Hello, and welcome to a new addition of UOSL weekly power rankings, I’m John Anderson presenting you the top 10 teams in UOSL up to day 55.
1. Golden State Warriors- Though they have played less games then the next team they are a very dominate team and will end up with the best record when the season comes to an end. They have one of the top defensives in the league and top 3 offensives in the league. KG, The Matrix and the 30 ppg All Star Kobe Bryant. They have three guys in the top 10 in steals per game; they are going to be tough to beat in the west this year.
2. Indiana Pacers- The best defensive team in the league allowing only 91 ppg is just flat out nasty. What gets it done is Greg Oden and Dwight Howard, two guys that are hard to stop, either way one will shut you down. Thaddeus Young comes in at the wing, while Caron Butler and Kirk Hinrich are the Pacers guards. This team has all the makings of a championship trophy in their future, the one thing that lacks is their offensive power, a lot of teams can outscore them, but lucky for them they have the best defense.
3. Memphis Grizzlies- The Grizzlies come in at the three spot. They are lead by the two time all star. Rookie phenomenon, Kevin Durant. Morris Almond and Devin Harris are the backcourt junkies of the grizzlies, and finally Brandan Wright heads the 4 spot. This team is young and fast, and they have some great qualities to contend this year in the west. One that that separates them from the Warriors is their frontcourt. Camby is getting up their in age, though can still block a couple shots per game, they need to for a new starter at the 5, or some good depth.
4. Utah Jazz- the surprising Jazz comes in at the four spot, with six players in double figures in points. The big man Pau Gasol heads the frontcourt with a dominating 27 ppg, while the rest of the team is filled with solid 10-14 ppg contributors. The jazz were looking to rebuild this season, but it looks like those plans have changed. Look out for these guys come playoff time.
5. Los Angels Lakers- A dominating team since the start of the UOSL2 comes in at 5. The Lakers have Emeka Okafor who has been a surprise this season with 21 ppg and 12 boards. They are a strong defensive team, one of the best in the leagues, and have one of the best back courts in the game. TJ Ford, and Monta Ellis, have 2 + spg at 15 ppg a piece. While Leandro Barbosa comes in as the teams leader in points. The lakers started off slow, but you can expect them to do some damage in the playoffs.
6. Cleveland Cavaliers- Back to the east, the cavs take the 6th spot. The defending champs still run by Lebron James and Baron Davis make a deadly combo any night. Add in Eddy Curry, and your talking about an offensive powerhouse.
7. New Orleans Hornets- This team was a big surprise this season, making a few big trades here and there and now looks like big contenders in the east. They acquired Tim Duncan in a trade and also Dirk Nowitzki via free agency. Just from those two guys alone makes this team scary, combine that with Jason Richardson and Josh Howard make the lineup and hell hole to defend. Only problem is they don’t have a point guard, better get one if you want to see another ring on Timmays hand before he retires.
8. Chicago Bulls- Under went some new management recently still has that same Bull look. With Brand, McGrady and Pierce still heading this team you can except some good numbers all season and a playoff appearance. They are still deadly enough to contend with the best of them, as Frye, Miller and Powe get it done.
9. San Antonio Spurs- Going through a new transition phase here in San Antonio they dealt off Tim Duncan. They have a new gm and looking to rebuild, to bad for them they are still a talented basketball team. CV, Redd and Zach Randolph can get you that playoff spot, better look to deal them off if you want to change the face of this team. Spurs wont make much noise this season, but still a solid squad.
10. Washington Wizards- Though second right now in the east, I do not consider this team among the elite in the east. They are a solid young team with Rudy Gay and Delonte West running things but the Atlantic is so bad, any team can be in first there. They have a few years before they can contend for a title, but a ring will soon be back in Washington.
Tune into later tonight/tomorrow where I will reveal the top 10 worst teams in the league!
