Its that time of the year again and the UOSL2 championship is here. Two of the best teams this season will be competing in the championship to get that great ring they all know about. This season the Indiana Pacers and the Memphis Grizzlies will be face to face in a full out battle. Both teams have never been in the finals before and this will surely be a test of their entire seasons struggle. Which team will come out on top, it is too tough to call, lets go into a deep overview of the starting fives.
CENTER
Indiana Pacers- At center the Pacers are anchored by the beast Greg Oden. This man can do it all and will dominate the paint. This past season he avg 20 and 11 with 3 blocks on a 460 fg%. He will dominate every opponent he faces and he is only 23, the pacers will have plenty of years to dominate with him and their power forward Dwight Howard.
Memphis Grizzlies- At center for the Grizzlies, Marcus Camby holds down the fort. The 37 year old has had plenty of success in UOSL but never won the big one. He is an all defensive center and could teach Oden a thing or two down low.
Prediction: Youth over experience this time around, maybe 5 years ago Camby would be able to dominate Oden but right now, Oden is one of the best in the league. PACERS
Power Forward
Pacers- The Paces frontline is the best in the league and they are anchored here by the 25 year old phenomenon Dwight Howard. 26 points 13 boards and slightly under 2 blocks this season, this man knows how to score at will. He is a dominating big man that is hard to stop. Once you team up Greg Oden and Dwight Howard I do not know how you can win in the post because one will beat you.
Grizzlies- Here the Grizzlies are led by their future all star, young 24 year old Brandan Wright. This kid has all the making of a hall of famer at the end of his career. He can score, rebound and block with the best of them. 17 points 9 boards and nearly 4 blocks a game this kid is a super star. Its hard for anyone to stop him.
Prediction: Its was a hard pick here but I had to give it to Dwight Howard. I think Dwight will be able to dominate the paint, while Brandan could be a strong defensive force, it may be to much to handle. PACERS
Small Forward:
Pacers: When things could not get any better for the Pacers they add this young 23 year old stud into the mix. Thaddeus Young, the Small Forward out of Georgia Tech covers the wing and knows how to get things done. 17 points, 5 boards, 3 assists on 470% shooting he is a do it your all forward.
Grizzlies: This is where the grizzlies take over. Kevin Durant, do I need to say more. This kid is 23 years old and putting up fantastic numbers. 25 ppg, 10 boards 3 assists, and 2 steals per game on 450 fg % and 426 3p%. He is the star of this Memphis team and if they are going to win this series they need a big performance out of him.
Prediction: Kevin Durant will be to much for Thaddeus. I would say look out for the great match up of Wright vs Howard, but this one is far better. Battle of the ages. GRIZZLIES
Shooting Guard:
Pacers- The pacers may seem a little weak here at the 1 and 2. Caron Butler anchors the 2 spot and has had some solid numbers all year. 15 points per game he is a strong defensive minded guard that will get you steals. He has good shooting percentages, and a great part of this team as a veteran leadership. He is craving a ring just as much as anybody.
Grizzlies- The grizzlies have a little unknown wonder here at the two in Morris Almond. WHO? This guy has been a real surprise in this league with mediocre ratings to stay the least. He is scoring 22 ppg with 2 steals on 470 fg%. He is a strong 2 guard that many teams would love to have. He has really come out this year as one of the leagues best.
Prediction: Almond has been playing far better than Butler at this point and I see Almond dominating butler in every way. Even though Caron can defend with the best of them, Almond will overcome that. GRIZZLIES
Point Guard:
Pacers- Kirk Hinrich has really hit the bottom when coming to the Pacers and leaving the bulls. He still is a great leader on the court and knows how to dish out the ball very well. In what was his worst season of the year, he looks to make up for that in the playoffs and help his team to their first championship and his second ring.
Grizzlies- Devin Harris comes in as the Grizzlies point guard and he has had a great season. With solid numbers and percentages its hard to see how Kirk will be able to stop him. He is 28 years old and has shown he can win in this league. He has had a lot of playoff experience with the former Jazz and now looks to finally win the big one, can he run this team to success?
Prediction: Its probably the hardest choice between them all because of Kirk experience and Devins much better season. But this is a game and experience means shit, so Devin Harris will get the nod. I think he will dominate Hinrich and leave him in the dust. GRIZZLIES.
Bench:
Pacers- Solid bench with veteran leadership that all would like to grab the big one. They have some good shooters and quality big men to help their starting five out.
Grizzlies- Pretty solid bench with Sean May and Williams but their front court depth is lacking and that is where the Pacers will hurt you.
Prediction: Pacers bench will run the show.PACERS
As you can see the Pacers have won three and the Grizzlies have won three, this match up is going to be a battle like I said before and anyone could come out on top. I have a pick for who will win but I will let you guys decide. Thanks for joining me on this edition of weekly UOSL2, championship edition.
