Here is the 1st installment of Top 5 Players at each Position. Since the debate spurred so much interest, why not go a little deeper. Lets start with the men that get the least attention, Center:
1) Greg Oden – Indiana Pacers: B+ C- D- A A- C
Oden is a beast on the 3 time champions. Averaging 23 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks per game, Oden is dominant on both ends of the floor. He shoots over 50% from the field and turns the ball over only 1.2 times per game.
2) Chris Bosh – Philadelphia 76ers: A- C D+ A- A C
Bosh is flat out dominating right now. Averaging 30 points and 14 rebounds per game, he is a force for the 76ers. Bosh shoots over 45% and hits over 80% of his free throws. Bosh is at his peak at 30 years old and is a dominant bigman
3) Ralph Sampson Jr – New Orleans Hornets: B C D+ A- B A
Even though Sampson doesn’t have eye popping abilities, his production is unquestioned. Sampson leads the league in BPG at 4.0 and also averages an outstanding 13ppg and 13rpg. Sampson is young and still has A potential. He should be a gem and is the main reason the Hornets are 18-5.
4) Andris Biedrins – Seattle Sonics: B- D+ F+ A- A- C
Biedrins might not seem like a stud, but believe me his is. Biedrins is a top 10 rebounder at 12.5 RPG and also 2nd in blocks at 3 bpg. Similarly to Sampson, Biedrins provides an unbelievable consistency with double double production at C for one of the league’s best teams. It shouldn’t go unnoticed that 2 of the top 5 best centers play on top 5 UOSL teams.
5) Andrew Bogut – Memphis Grizzlies: B+ C B- A- A- D
Quite a drop-off here, but Bogut is a very productive player. Averaging 16/12.8/3.5 per game, Bogut has great passing ability for a bigman. The only thing holding down his value is his measly 0.5 blocks per game. Come playoff time, that hurts
