Hello everybody and welcome back to another playoff prediction show with your host Dan Basone. Today we will be talking about the eastern conference and their second round match ups. Lets begin!
Philadelphia 76ers #4 VS.
Boston Celtics # 8
In a not so surprising up set, the number 8 seed Celtics knocked off the best team in the eastern conference the New Jersey Nets. The Nets were with out Carlos Boozer and many Gms feel that the Celtics have been under performing all year long. The Celtics have a good combination of youth and vets that make this team a scary team in a seven game series. Amare Stoudemire is still putting up all-star numbers at the age of 33, and is looking for that championship ring. Sidney, Miller, and McLeod are the youth that fill out the rest of this line up, while Richmond and Carlino take turns really at the 2. This team can play solid defense, the question is will their inexperience get in the way of their success.
The 76ers have been rattled with injuries all season long and in the past have really hurt their chances for success in the playoffs. Tony “tiger” Woods will be out for the remainder of the season, while Deron Williams, their star point guard should return in 13 days. When healthy I would consider the sixers to be a deadly team, Andre Iguodala and Chris Bosh together is a potent line up in itself, adding Deron gives them three legit options. The 76ers need to limit their turn over, and hope that key guys step up in order for them to have success. Millsap and Kamara will be the x factor of this game, these two guys need to step up.
I think the key match up here is Chris Bosh and Amare Stoudemire, if they match up against each other, it will be a battle for the ages. But with Deron Williams out, and other injuries killing the 76ers, I see the Celtics rolling past the Sixers and on to the Conference Finals
Prediction: Celtics in 6
Bulls #2 VS.
Knicks # 6
The Chicago Bulls have built a great young squad. They beat the Heat in round one, in a close game seven series and now look to take on the Knicks. The Knicks have had a mediocre season to say the least. Over the past few years they have made finals appearances, but have come up short each time. With vet Emeka Okafor and Kenny Boynton, this team has all the makings of a championship contender. Emeka Okafor has been to the finals four times in his majestic career only winning a championship one time. He knows what it means to be successful in this league and has all the tools to lead his team back there again. The Knicks have Anthony Crater running the point, who limits his turnovers and really sees the court well. With him JJ Hickson rounds out the 5 positions while James and Ferguson comprise of the 2 and 3 relatively. With their Superior defense, the Knicks can really shut down opposing teams.
The Bulls are the future of UOSL. They are a young team comprised of veteran leadership that can go far. Greg Monroe and Delvon Roe anchor the 4 and 5; they are beast offensively and defensively. Carmelo is at the 3 and still playing great basketball. He puts up 20 a night and with his leadership can take you pretty far. Turner and John Wall close out the 1 and 2, they are a good set of guards that do not turn the ball over and can score. The question is will the Bulls defense be able to stop the Knicks penetration and depth or will the Knicks offense be the end to their championship hopes.
I think the X-factor here is Anthony Crater for the Knicks and Ralston Turner for the Bulls, these two guys need to step up big time for their teams and when either team has success these guys will be leading the way.
Prediction: Bulls in 7
Thank you for joining me again on another playoff prediction. I am Dan Basone, good night.
