Yanks will get in as the Wild Card, but that's it. They have to solidify the bullpen if they want to go deep... Chamberlain has to step up as a 7th/8th inning guy. At least they got rid of Proctor, he was horrendous.
Regardless, they'll probably end up losing in the first round again...

this whole continuous talk of riding off the central from getting the wild card is an absolute fucking joke. fuck that. cleveland and detroit are both making the playoffs, live with it.

Its a joke that people are writing the yankees off. i'm not writing them off, in fact, it would not even shock me if they possibly came back and won the division, but if I had a gun to my head, I don't see the NYY having enough pitching to shut down the Detr/Anaheim/Bostons in the big games in the end of August/Beginning of September.

Better pitching? who? Hernandez Washburn Ramirez Batista (One of the most underrated pitchers in MLB IMO) And one of the best closers in the buisness. And a very solid bullpen.

i gotta stay consistent with my AL central love damn it.
anywho, i'm not sayin LA cant win the AL but anyone who is a baseball nerd like me will tell ya they won't. they have no plate discipline, which will be really costly against teams with great defenses and pitching(boston, detroit, seattle.. cleveland a bit, though not NY) and their starters aren't really great enough to get away with that. i think outscoring opponents in the early innings will be a real problem for them, and it'll make their great bullpen not so useful.
even NY, who i don't really feel has the pitching overall to get in has a better chance than LAA because their ability to work opposing pitchers is so great.
Detroit and Boston have the best teams and I'd really like to see em in the ALCS, it'd be a shame if either missed the playoffs. that series would be a classic.

A Boston/Detroit series would be great, but the Tigers need to get their pitching staff healthy (Andrew Miller, Zumaya, Rodney) to have a real chance to go deep.

Well Ms need all the wins they can get. Taking on Twins.
Horacio Ramirez (7-3, 7.12) tries to continue his solid pitching at home when he takes the ball for Seattle. The left-hander is 6-0 with a 3.24 ERA in seven starts at Safeco Field this season, with the Mariners winning all of those games.

clay buchholz was called up(then called down after) the first half of the double header for Boston today. he looked really good. he missed low a lot, and that resulted in some walking but also some double plays... i pretty much prefer it that way. i'd like to see him make some nice starts in september, and make the playoff roster because he's very talented... nasty curveball and change up, good fastball and slider. i believe he's the real deal.
