This PG Class is pretty well balanced. It's definitely not the strongest class, or is it the deepest, but there's enough talent in here to keep GMs interested. The best player in this class is probably Uconn PG Tyrone Johnson.
Tyrone has come into this draft with tons of hype. This already well polished PG enters UOSL2 with a Jason Kidd type game. In College, Johnson was a triple double threat every game. He averaged 12ppg, 8rpg, and 8apg. Truly one of the best college PGs we have seen in a while. His biggest upside is his frame/body. He's 6-3 190lbs, and is extremely quick. He's been hitting the weights and is building more strength. Like Jason Kidd, Tyrone isn't a very good 3point shooter. Tyrone should be a high lotto pick, and he should be a nice PG in uosl2.
Another player looking to be a lottery pick is Mr. do it all Jordan Adams. Jordan may not be as great of a PG as Johnson will be, but he has such a well balanced game. Jordan can really light it up on offense; his is 3point shot is a good one. He also has the ability to get to the hoop and score thanks to his good speed. He is one of the quickest players in the draft. And don't sleep on his defense either. Jordan is a hustler and makes plays happen at the defensive end. Overall, we are looking at a solid PG here. Nothing amazing, but enough to start in this league.
And probably the other PG who will receive a good look at being draft in the lotto is 5-11 175 pound William Ferguson. I think with Willie, you take a big risk. Not only is he young and a little raw, but his defense is laughable. I mean he couldn't guard a tree. He's a great PG and has all the right tools, but if he can't play defense, he won't last. Willie has great speed and passing, however he has been quite turnover prone his first year at V-tech. He has one of the best 3point shots in this PG class. Willie has a great upside, and I do expect him to be a lottery pick. A high risk, but potential high reward player. It'll be interesting to see how he pans out.
Hunter is the 2nd player to the left (#23).
And don't sleep on other potential first round picks: RJ Hunter, Juwan Moody and others. With Hunter, you have a quick, athletic combo guard. His body is for a PG, but he plays like a SG. He is one of the best FT shooters in this draft class. He is also a sneak defender and can get in the passing lanes quickly. Scouts loves RJ's upside, and RJ should be a mid first round pick. Juwan is a little unique for a PG. He isn't much of a shooter and he isn't the fastest guy out there, but he gets the job done. I'm not sure if he'll ever play much PG in uosl2. But because of his great defense, he'll be a very useful player off the bench wherever he plays. Juwan could end up with A defense. Reminds me a bit of Tony Allen. He should be a solid contributor.
Top left: Dion Houston, Top right: Shai Fields
Bottom left: Wes Cole, on the bottom row, 2nd to the left.
Bottom right: TJ Williams, on the bottom row, 2nd tot he left.
Could one of these players be a 2nd round steal?
And the rest of the players looking to hear their names on day one are Dion Houston, Wes Cole,Shai Fields, and T.J. Williams.
Dion Houston is a scoring machine and has great quickness. Dion has a nice upside, and I wouldn't be surprised if he sneaks into the first round.
Next we have Wes Cole. Wes, physically, is a little behind the pack. However he has a solid overall game. But potentially, Cole looks decent.
Shai Fields is very raw when it comes to defense and scoring, but he makes things happen with the ball in his hands. He has a better upside than a lot of people think.
Lastly, we have T.J. Williams. All we hear about TJ is how scouts rave about his potential. TJ has mad handles and shows good quickness with the ball in his hands. He should be a solid play in the 2nd round.
