Fiction
unless he gets good vets to surround his young talent, then kings won't make the playoffs anytime soon.

Fact, they will turn it around sooner or later. Most of their draft picks have been busts and that sucks but you gotta do a better of "scouting" I guess. Anyway, I think they will make the playoffs, but they are nothing more than an 8 or 7th seed if that.

I've also had zero success picking draft picks.

They seriously need to start making some trades. They should trade some of their picks and their younger talent for a stud big man.
Imagine if they traded expirings + their pick this year for dwight.
PG-Nocedal, SG-Sulaimon, SF-Ferrell, PF-Blair, C-Dwight
nasty...
But I'll give the Kings another year or 2, cuz once Sulaimon and Ferrell progress a bit more, they'll be making playoffs with that duo.

I didn't have the expirings to trade for Dwight (needed 26 million).

Marreese Speights + another 10mil/1 year contract (Didn't you have anyone in FA with birds that you could have resigned to a one year deal)? And then it's just a few fillers from there. Anyway, my point is, if you really wanted to win now, you could do it. However, it would mean kinda ruining your youth, and it may not be the best decision.
