1st Round:
1 - Denver Nuggets - LeBrent Walker SF 6'6'' 220 21 B- B- C- B- C A
The Nuggets needed a SF and Walker is pretty damn good. The only other guy I thought they should consider would be Clark, but Clark is believed to have very limited upside. Dillard is obviously a potential # 1 pick, but the Nuggets have quite a bit of big men right now. The Nuggets are better off with a guy who will develop a little slower so they can continue to lose more games and hopefully get enough talent to one day be respectable.
Grade: A-
2 - Philadelphia 76ers - Clark Overlander SG 6'7'' 195 20 B- A- C+ B- C- B
The Sixers had 0 SGs on the roster and don't have a lot of outside shooters, so there is nothing wrong with the pick of Overlander. I would have gone with Reginald Dillard. Big men are a lot harder to come by than wings. The Sixers are also terrible right now so adding in a guy like Dillard would be better long term for their team.
Grade: C+
3 - Boston Celtics - Nigel Williams-Goss SG 6'3'' 190 21 C+ B B- B- D+ A
Bad pick by the Celtics in my opinion. Goss is a solid SG who is said to never be a star. Why take a guy in the top 3 who has almost no chance of becoming a franchise player. Artis and Dillard would have been much better options at this spot.
Grade: C-
4 - San Antonio Spurs - Dominic Artis PG 6'3'' 195 20 B- C B C+ C- A
What are the odds that the Spurs trade Artis? This was a great pick, but every time they get a good PG they seem to turn around and deal them for another big man. Aar has some kind of fantasy about big men and he lives it out in UOSL. Rector looks like more of a backup than a starter so getting a guy like Artis is huge. Dillard might be a better player, but the last thing the Spurs needed to do was take another big. Artis should work well with the plethora of big men in SA and has a superstar in Price to dish it too.
Grade: A+
5 - Portland Trailblazers - Reginald Dillard PF 6'10'' 245 21 B- C- B- C B- A
Fantastic pick by the Blazers. Dillard is a HUGE steal at #5. They are a team with no identity right now. They have a couple of solid older guys in Mayo and Eaton. Hamilton might continue developing into a solid big man. Dillard gives them an identity though. They get a good sized PF who has unique skills. There should have been no debate in the war room when it came time to make their pick.
Grade: A+
6 - Utah Jazz - Per Gunther SG 6'9'' 225 20 C+ B- C+ C C+ A
There are 2 real shockers here. Nova creates the draft file and trades up and Nova selects a player with a reported 10 inch penis. When I read about Gunther's "talent" I knew Nova would be all over that. There were many better players available that could help the Jazz now and considering that Golden is 28 and Garrett is 26 I would have taken someone who can contribute more.
Grade: G for gay.
7 - Toronto Raptors - Evan Nolte SF 6'10'' 230 19 C+ C- C+ C+ C+ A
The Raptors have no direction and are pretty terrible right now. They have Sampson and Wattie. Taking Nolte is weird because he has no chance of helping them. I guess the Raptors plan to trade Sampson and rebuild. If that is the case then this is a solid pick because Nolte is only 19 and sounds like he could become a stud. I would have taken Marcel Frazier. Frazier went to Oregon and he is at least going to be a player like Tyson Chandler. It is always good to have a big man who can block shots, play some D and get some boards.
Grade: C
8 - Los Angeles Clippers - Marcel Frazier C 6'11'' 255 22 C+ C- C- B B- B
I LOVE this pick for the Clippers. He was the best player left and fit a need. The Clippers have a great young core with Danos, Washington, Hood, and Brown. None of them are Centers and Washington cant defend anything. They needed the defense down low big time. It is a perfect fit for the Clippers and they should be very happy and feel lucky that Frazier made it down to them.
Grade: A
9 - Detroit Pistons - Montana Mayfield PG 6'0'' 175 22 C B+ C+ C C- A
The last things the Pistons need is a PG. Agosto is sick. Mayfield isn't even the best player left in the draft. I would have taken Bastian Winterhalter at this pick. Mayfield just doesn't look to have a future in UOSL2.
Grade: D
10 - Atlanta Hawks - Taj Adams SF 6'8'' 220 19 B- C+ C C C A
The Hawks are an older team and there isn't really anyone they can pick that will make them any better for the upcoming season so they take a chance on Taj Adams. I would have tried to trade back because I don't believe Adams would have gone lotto. His notes are very interesting and he could be a worthy risk, but I feel it could have been done later and a trade made to help the Hawks out.
Grade: C+
11 - Phoenix Suns - Bastian Winterhalter PF 6'8'' 250 19 B- C D+ C+ C+ A
The Suns didn't need the big man, but there wasn't really anyone left that was WORTH taking more than Bastian. I like this pick for them because they have a good amount of talent and I could see Bastian as a quality starter or rotation big man for them down the road.
Grade: B
12 - Indiana Pacers - Xavi Rey PF 6'9'' 230 21 B C- D+ C+ B B
13 - Indiana Pacers - Marquis Moore PG 6'2'' 200 23 C B B- B D+ C
Rey looks like a solid player who will be around for a long time. Moore looks like he could be a decent backup PG. The Pacers have a star in Reese and they need quite a bit. I would have taken players with more upside instead of a decent PF and career backup PG. This is the spot where I think a team like the Pacers should take a risk or two on some high potential guys. These 2 will provide depth for the Pacers, but they better find a way to add more starting talent around Reese before he becomes the new Lebron James surrounded by role players and shit.
