Boston Celtics-
2(18) Sean Singletary PG 6'0'' 185 22 C B C C C- D
Comments: Celtics got KG, that's what they wanted. They didn't have much to play with, but I think Singletary is a very good pick at 18 in the 2nd round, especially considering their lack of PG depth.
Grade: C-
Miami Heat-
1(10) Mike Conley Jr. PG 6'1'' 180 20 C+ C B- B- D+ A
1(17) Hasheem Thabeet C 7'3'' 255 20 C D D- B- C+ A
1(26) Marc Gasol C 7'1'' 270 22 B- C- D C C+ B
2(10) Jared Dudley SF 6'7'' 225 22 C+ C+ C C+ C C
Comments: I think talentwise, Heat had a very strong draft. But not able to capitalize on getting a few good big men really lowered their grade. Don't get me wrong, Conley is great and should be good player, but they needed someone like Hibbert or Horford. Thankfully for them, they landed Thabeet at 17. I thought that was solid pickup. A 7-3 255 pound guy to bang inside. Gasol is a projected and could be good. Dudley adds more depth to this team.
Grade: B+
New Jersey Nets-
2(22) Sun Yue SG 6'9'' 205 21 C+ C C+ C- D B
Comments: Only one pick, and late in the 2nd round. Nets did the exact right thing with this pick. Since moving towards their rebuilding phase, Duce went with a projected player rather than a player who will help them out right away. Solid pick.
Grade: C+
New York Knicks-
1(15) Aaron Gray C 7'1'' 270 23 B- D+ C- C B- B
2(15) Cartier Martin SF 6'8'' 220 22 C+ C+ C- C C- C
Comments: Since was HOS was high or something, he wasn't able to make the draft. Gray was an awful pick at 15. There is no way Gray is top 15 talent. Probably one of the worse picks of the draft. Martin is ok, he brings depth and has good size.
Grade: D
Orlando Magic-
1(9) Roy Hibbert C 7'2'' 278 20 B- D+ D+ B- C+ B
2(7) Aaron Brooks PG 6'0'' 165 22 C B C+ C D+ C
Comments: I like this draft for the Magic, they get a solid player in Hibbert who has great size and solid all around game. Magic still have ways to go, but I definitely think this pick will help them turn into a winning team. Brooks was a good pick talent wise, but they already have Paul and Nelson, so I'm not so sure about him.
Grade: A-
Philadelphia 76ers-
1(4) Al Horford PF 6'10'' 245 21 B- D+ C B C+ A
1(27) Arron Afflalo SG 6'5'' 215 22 C B C- C+ D+ B
2(2) Dominic James PG 5'11'' 175 21 C+ C C+ C+ D B
Comments: 76ers were hesitant about all their picks this draft. It seemed every time it was his pick he wanted to trade it. However, I think 76ers did a good job taking advantage of what they could. Horford was the right decision at #4. 76ers really needed a PF, so either Wright or Horford would have been best. Afflalo is a nice pick at 27. And Dominic James looks to battle Brewer for the backup PG position. Nothing great, but solid talent.
Grade: B-
Washington Wizards-
1(29) Gabe Pruitt PG 6'4'' 175 21 C B- C+ C+ D B
2(29) Brad Newley SG 6'6'' 198 22 C+ C C- C D+ B
Comments: To me Wizards did the best in this division at drafting by position rather than talent. Pruitt is a marvelous fit for the Wizards. Recognizing their lack of depth at PG and SG, they bring in a versitale 6-4 guard. Newley is young and will be a project, but again, they draft where they need.
