1. DeVante Smith-Rivera PF 19 6-9 250lbs B C- C- B- B- A FR (Texas)
So lucky how Houston jumped to the #1 pick. This pick here is obvious since Rivera is the best prospect in this draft. His ratings right now is probably the best seen in a rookie PF ever to enter the UOSL Draft. According to scouts, Rivera is a beast who is very strong with crazy hops. Scouts predict him to become a stud big man in this league soon. Now how will Rivera fit in Houston? Well he gives them a future PF to play along with a future young point guard in Jevon Thomas. That duo will be sexy right now and in the future.
Competition: Jabari Parker , Michel Diouff
2. Dean Danos SG 21 6-4 180lbs C+ A- B- C D+ A JR (Florida)
With Rivera off the board, the Clippers have no choice but to select the 2nd best prospect in this draft in Dean Danos. The Clippers have been dying for a future SG for a long time and Danos finally fills in their need. According to scouts, Danos is a great shooter who can shoot lights out from anywhere on the floor. He’s very quick and athletic and is able to score against bigger guards. Danos should be a stud in the future. Fans in LA should love him.
Competition: Jamont Gordon , Nihad Djedovic
3. Casey Kasperbauer SG 20 6-7 205lbs B- C+ C+ B- C- B SO (Iowa State)
Looking at the Pistons roster, they have young talent everywhere except shooting guard. So at this pick, the Pistons select a future young shooting guard in Casey Kasperbauer. He’s probably the strongest SG in this draft and is a year younger than Dean Danos. He has nice all around game and plays good defense. His ratings show that he is very versatile and the coach in Detroit should love him, as well as the fans. Sure his upside may not be up to par with Danos, but he’s still worth the risk to draft at this spot especially when Detroit needs a shooting guard right now.
Competition: None
4. Trashaun Carroll PF 20 6-11 225lbs B- C C+ B C A SO (Arizona)
Kinda feel bad for Denver for dropping down AGAIN. But thankfully there are still good prospects available. At this pick, I expect Denver to select a versatile forward named Trashaun Carroll. Looking at the Nuggets roster, they could use a better PF/SF and they find one in Carroll who can play both positions. According to scouts, Carroll is VERY athletic who is quicker than most PF’s in this draft although his body tends to be a little weak. But the main thing is that Carroll is versatile and he should help Denver in many ways in the future.
Competition: Jamal Millson , Jason Croom , Evegeny Valiev , Dantrell Tankson
5. N-Kewerin Okoro C 20 6-11 260lbs B- D+ C+ C+ C+ A SO (Oklahoma State)
Portland truly needs a center. At this pick, expect them to select N-Kewerin Okoro, who is the best center prospect in this draft. He is very young, only 20, and should become part of Portland’s rebuilding process for the future. Okoro has a legit size for a center who can score, handle, play defense, and rebound. He has great upside and Portland should be happy he’s still on the board.
Competition: None
6. Xavier Horne PG 20 6-0 170lbs C C+ B C C- A SO (Miami(FL)) (from Boston)
Utah can go many ways with this pick, but assuming Jarvis Garrett decides to walk in FA, I expect Utah to select the best point guard prospect in this draft in Xavier Horne. He’s also probably the best player available at this pick. According to scouts, Horne has a very good jump shot who is very quick and can pass the ball well. Although he isn’t really a defender, thankfully he has good upside.
Competition: David Jelinek , Teon Lippon, *Jarvis Garrett (if resigned)
7. Raymond Dorsey SF 22 6-7 220lbs C+ B- D+ C+ C A JR (Texas)
Like Utah, the Knicks could go many ways with this pick. But I expect them to select the best SF prospect in this draft in Raymond Dorsey. The Knicks roster only has 3 players right now, but I just don’t see them passing up the best small forward on the board. According to scouts, Dorsey is a real solid wing who plays big for his size. His handles might be underated as well since he rarely turned over the ball in college. Knicks should love this kid.
Competition: None
8. Thomas Hamilton C 20 6-10 250lbs C D- F+ B C+ A SO (Illinois)
Utah is up again and after selecting Xavier Horne at #6, I see Utah selecting the 2nd best center in this draft in Thomas Hamilton. Although he doesn’t fill in their need at center since they have Jenkins there, Hamilton is a center and centers are hard to find in drafts. Standing tall at 6’10” and weighing in at 250, Hamilton has legit size for a center. Scouts believe he should become a really good defender one day but the rest of his game is questionable. Hopefully he pans out and Utah creates a beast frontcourt one day.
Competition: Kristopher Jenkins
9. Rodney Purvis SF 21 6-9 235lbs B- C D B- C A JR (South Carolina)
This pick here is almost obvious since Washington lack a small forward. So at this pick, I expect them to select one in Rodney Purvis. With Hickson, Mullens, Marshall, and Johnson starting, they find a future starting wing in Purvis who is very athletic and can score inside-out. Although scouts say his game is a little raw, thankfully he shows some potential and hopefully he pans out in the future.
Competition: Austin Key-Blackwell
10. Anthony Bowers SG 22 6-5 195lbs B B D C C- B JR (UConn) (from Sixers)
Yet again, Utah has another top pick at this spot. After taking Horne and Hamilton, I see them selecting a young SG in Anthony Bowers. Looking at their roster, they have one SG and this pick here is safe since they could use another shooting guard on their team. Scouts really like his inside-out game and it’s very rare to see one who is UOSL ready. His scoring should be no problem in this league.
Competition: Jordan Washington
11. Matthew Campbell C 22 6-11 255lbs C C D- C+ A- B JR (California)
When was the last time Milwaukee had a true center? Probably not in a very long time. At this pick, I expect the Bucks to select a true center in Matthew Campbell. Although he doesn’t seem very intriguing, the Bucks LOVE rebounding and they find one who is UOSL ready. Campbell might also be the best rebounding big in this draft. However the rest of his game is questionable. But the Bucks should like this pick none the less.
Competition: None
12. Kyron Richardson SG 23 6-4 175lbs B- C C B- D+ A (Arkansas)
The Suns have a young nice team and at this pick I see them taking a risk on a young shooting guard in Kyron Richardson. The Suns look sexy at every position in the future but shooting guard and that’s why Richardson might be worth the risk here. Scouts really like his combination of quickness and athleticism that he brings to the table. Although his size isn’t great, he has potential that some scouts salivate for although he’s a bit raw right now. But maybe he’ll become a steal at this pick, who knows.
Competition: Devon Fransaux
13. Adofis Washington PF 20 6-10 245lbs C+ D+ D+ C B- A SO (Ohio State) (from Toronto)
Although Spurs could use a shooting guard here, I see them selecting the best player available in Adofis Washington. This kid is only 20 and has great size for a PF who shows good potential to become a solid rebounder some day. The rest of his game could be interesting in the future if his potential holds true.
Competition: Reggie Cameron
