been thinking about this since uosl ended, just some suggestions for how we use the hardcap.
1. i think we need the hardcap set 2 seasons ahead, eg. have the amount locked in for this season and next season, so we always have one full season to get our finances in check, either to drop cap, or to evaluate what we can offer our own f/as, or whether we can use or extend our mle's/lle's.
2. i think we need to be open to the idea of the hard cap coming down, not always going up, i think in uosl the hardcap was too high, and allowed too many teams to sit on talent for way too long, the hardcap should be putting pressure on teams to move talented players, as well as making it easier for the teams with f/a money to sign quality players. i wouldnt be comfortable with anything more than a +/- 3 mill change in a season, but i think its something that should be continually evaluated. if trades are slow, then it needs to come down, if they are frequent then it should stay the same or increase.
point being i think the hardcap should fluctuate, much like the luxary tax.
thoughts?
