The UOSL Development League
Obviously comparable to the NBADL, the UOSLDL would serve as a training ground of sorts for developing UOSL players. I would be happy to manage such an option for this league if the GMs are interested. There are advantages to using the UOSLDL, but there are also restrictions and limitations.
Limitations:
----------------------------------------------
-May not be a player selected with a pick in the Top 5.
-A player over the age of 27 may not be sent down to the UOSLDL. That doesn’t mean he can’t already be there or be signed by a DL team independently, but he may not go from the UOSL to the DL.
-The players a team may assign to the DL must be in their first four years in the UOSL.
-Individual discretion may be required. For example, if the player is the 6th pick, but has rating of B B C B C A, obviously he has no business in the UOSLDL.
How It Works:
----------------------------------------------
-Each UOSLDL team is assigned a UOSL parent team. Said parent team would have rights to the players on its DL team.
-Each DL team consists of twelve players. Nine players will be DL players, and three players may be UOSL players. What this means is, you may only have up to three UOSL players on your DL team at a time, but you still retain rights to all players.
-You may call up a player from the DL at any time during the season, but you may only do this four times per season, and a player may not be sent to the DL twice in one season.
Advantages:
----------------------------------------------
-At the end of each DL season, players under the age of 26 will gain 4 Potential.
-There are also various rewards that can be given to a player’s attributes if they receive certain accolades, such as Player of the Week, Player of the Month, All-Star, All-League Team, etc.
The DL is not likely to generate a superstar, but it gives teams a chance to build up a player into a good role-player or occasionally give a few players that much needed boost they need to break through. (Think Matt Barnes, Kelenna Azubuike, Ime Udoka, etc.)
Let me know what you guys think. I’d be happy to work on something like this if the league approves and people are interested.
