My Favorite Things
By: J.D. Catch
This week on my favorite things, I list you my favorite players on each team, and why.
Boston Celtics
Bryan Velasco SF 24 6'6'' 225 B- C B+ A+ B- C
Because he could be the starting SF on multiple championship teams. He's in that rare 2 block/2 steal category on defense, is a great rebounder for 6'6, and is a great passer. Too bad he's on Boston.
Miami Heat
Will Mack C 26 6'10'' 248 B C- C- A- A- C
Because...
Brooklyn Nets
Jaylen McLeary C 24 6'11'' 260 B+ C C A- A B
Because 20/10/3 is sick.
New York Knicks
Dorian Dawkins PG 29 5'11'' 188 A- A- A- A- D C
Because he's the best 2nd round pick in UOSL history. Look at all those A-'s, reminds me of my junior high report cards.
Orlando Magic
Brandon Jennings PG 35 6'1'' 197 C B+ A- C- D- D
Because he's getting paid to suck, and will retire when his contract is over.
Philadelphia 76ers
Arroyo "Taco" Edwards C 28 6'10'' 266 C F+ D- A- A D
Because he's the only player in the UOSL with an official nickname.
Charlotte Bobcats
Theo Pinson Jr. C 29 6'11'' 269 A- D+ D- A- A- C
Because he leads the league in rebounding and easily a top big man in the league. But no one cares because he plays for the Bobcats.
Atlanta Hawks
Dexter Strickland SF 35 6'3'' 197 C A C A C- D
Because he's the best role player I never had.
New Orleans Hornets
Eric Seaberry PG 22 6'1'' 205 B- B A- B C B
Because he's the future of the point guard position, and I only found out he existed a day ago.
Chicago Bulls
Kenny Battle Jr. SF 27 6'6'' 212 B B B A C B
Because he came into UOSL in his prime and is going to dominate. He's like Scottie Pippen lite, but his Jordan doesn't play in Chicago.
Cleveland Cavaliers
Tony Wills SG 29 6'0'' 193 C+ A C+ A- D C
Because he's a guaranteed 20ppg in any outside offense, regardless of what option.
Detroit Pistons
Lynden Rose SG 23 6'7'' 227 B+ B- A- C+ C B
Because he's 6'7", can play the 1-3, and rebounds like a SF at each position. Not to fail mentioning he was a steal on my team.
Indiana Pacers
J-Mychal Reese SF 31 6'6'' 219 B- A+ C+ A+ C- D
Because he can stop your best player, drop 30 on him, all while being one of the most efficient players in UOSL's history. Did I mention he's averaging 2.4 steals and 1.9 blocks per game? MVP and DPOY.
Milwaukee Bucks
Daniel Clark C 22 6'10'' 253 C D- D A- A- B
Because the rest of that team is terrible.
Toronto Raptors
Omar Calhoun SF 26 6'8'' 230 C C A- A- B+ B
Because he has one of the most unique skill sets in the league, and has yet to be used correctly.
Dallas Mavericks
John Crowder C 32 7'2'' 245 C+ B+ D+ A- A- D
Because he single-handedly dominated the Pacers when we should have beat the Nets.
Denver Nuggets
Tony Squirewell PG 21 6'1'' 185 C+ C+ C C- D+ C
Because this is the only team he could have a 5 year career on.
Houston Rockets
DeVante Smith-Rivera PF 24 6'10'' 259 A- C C- A- A B
Because he is the best big man in the league. He's Dwight Part 2, and I mean it.
Minnesota Timberwolves
Jalon Jones C 21 6'11'' 239 B+ C C- B+ B B
Because he has a power forwards game, but plays center.
San Antonio Spurs
Richard Peters C 28 7'3'' 292 C D D A+ B C
Because he's the only A+ defensive center who also doubles as a high grossing porn star using his real name, Dick Peters.
Utah Jazz
Tavon Sledge PG 32 5'11'' 198 A- B A+ A- C- C
Because he's 46% FG and 10.1 assists for his career, finishes in the lane better than most, and he's not even 6 feet.
Memphis Grizzlies
Jan Vesely C 19 7'4'' 279 B- C B- A- B- A
Because I have no idea who he is. 7'4" with some ball handling, I reckon he will be a force.
Golden State Warriors
Derrick Favors C 34 6'10'' 260 A- D+ C- B+ A- C
Because he literally carried the Pacers for 2 solid years, and almost got us to the Finals because no one could stop him.
LA Clippers
Justin Pride PG 28 6'1'' 190 B- C+ A- C D+ D
Because he never improved after being a lotto pick.
LA Lakers
K.C. Ross Miller PG 33 6'2'' 185 C+ A- A B C- D
Because I revived his career and he gave the league the greatest team it's ever seen. He also is the reason J-Myke could win the MVP. J-Myke is nothing without a great PG.
Phoenix Suns
LaQuinton Ross SF 33 6'7'' 210 B- A- A- A- C+ D
Because he is sick, but will die of irrelevancy in Phoenix struggling to make the 8th seed.
Portland Trailblazers
Reginald Dillard PF 25 6'10'' 257 B+ C B+ B+ B+ C
Because he averages nearly 5 assists per game and is a power forward. He's like Chris Webber UOSL style. He's also an in-house product. Too bad he plays for Portland, people might actually know his name elsewhere.
Sacramento Kings
Kaleb Ferrell SF 29 6'8'' 222 A- B+ B A C C
Because no matter how good he is, he'll always be looked at as a guy who could never put his team over the top.
Seattle Sonics
Trashaun Carroll SF 25 6'11'' 239 C+ C+ C+ A C B
Because he hit his prime his first 4 years in the league, got a max contract, and then completely screwed his owner. He's played about 44 minutes this year, and makes 12.5 million. Due about 90+ over the next 6 years. Yes he can defend, but so can Elijah Davis.
