Q: Looking at your current record I think it would be fair to say you wont be making the playoffs. What season do you think you'll be gunning for the playoffs and how far do you see yourself realistically going with such a young team?
A: I cannot say exactly when we'll be fighting for a Playoff spot since right now my only plan is to continue to develop my young players and see how I can make this team better during the season and in the off-season. We will then go on from there and continue to have my options open.
Q: Taking Ikuro at number three seems like a good move thus far, what did you see in him that you took him over Parker and Arop?
A: I actually had Iruko listed very high on top of my draft list. I felt he was the second best player in the draft behind Rudy Mbemba who was another player I was looking at. It was very fortunate that Iruko had fell to #3 after not landing a top 2 pick. Young talented centers like Iruko are rare to find in these drafts and that is another reason why I selected him over guys like Parker and Arop.
Q: You had a few critics on Hollman at number four though none of them doubted he wouldn't be good. Do you think you could have traded down in the draft and take him later at 6 or 7?
A: It was possible I could of traded down but I felt that Hollman was a Top 5 talent in the draft no matter what people thought at the time. His scouting report attracted us as well since it said that he was the most unique player entering the draft who had a great post game which I felt was rare for his position. Obviously his defense and passing needs work but I'm confident that he will improve there in time.
Q: With the recent acquisition of Dominik Spohr it seems as if you have a glut at the point guard position, doesn't mean it is a bad thing, which point guard do you think has the brightest future with your team and what are you looking for from that position?
A: Right now it looks like Matthew Blackwell has the brightest future with my team since he is only a rookie at 20 years old who I personally believe has the potential become a stud one day if he continues to improve his scoring, passing, and obviously defense. If he can work on that then he will become a legit Point Guard in this league. That is what I hope for from him.
Q: What veterans would you like to add to your team to make your team competitive?
Q: I can't mention any names right now. Adding pieces to our team is what the off-season is for when we have a better look to explore our options. Whether it is adding veterans or youth, you will just have to wait and see. But definitely our goal is to get better in the future.
Q: Where do you see Spohr in the future for your franchise?
A: Right now Spohr is on his contract year and thus far he has shown some positives and negatives. We will determine his future with the team by what he has progressed until the end of the season. But for now, the contract stuff will have to wait until the off-season.
Q: The oldest player on your team right now is Omar Calhoun,26, who is slated to make 15 million this year and 16.5 million the following season. What part of his game would you like to see improve and what does he bring to your team that is unique?
A: Obviously we felt he could come in and help our younger players by distributing the ball and hitting the boards which were two of his skills we were expecting to get from him. Anything other than that is a bonus. We like to see his scoring improve but we really brought him in for his passing and rebounding. We felt that those two skills are very unique for his position and obviously Calhoun is a very unique player in this league.
