UOSL2 News: Charlotte Edition - Bobcats hold it together
The Charlotte Bobcats have been through some serious ups and downs in their quest to constantly challenge for the UOSL Championship. Following a successful first season where the Bobcats who were known as the Wizards succesfully won the UOSL Championship, the franchise was hit with a tragic incident, where all the players and staff on board they're plane plummetted to their deaths.
The league re-located the Washington Wizards to Charlotte and they have been known as the Charlotte Bobcats since then. The Bobcats have fallen short in their quest to add championship hardware to their organisation since this tragic event. The Bobcats have remained competetive with a solid roster with plenty of talent and experience.
Last week the previous GM who had taken over from the original GM was sacked due to bringing the league into disrepute, and GM Silva was hired to take over the Bobcats. The Charlotte Bobcats earlier today cut Steve Frankoski and signed young-gun Darryl Foster. Foster will add some youth to the Bobcats who cut the ageeing Steve Frankoski, Steve had found some problems contributing to the team, and the Bobcats went in another direction.
Charlotte Gazette Media Correspondent Greg Anthony sat down with new GM Silva of the Bobcats:
GA: Welcome to Charlotte, and congratulations on a great 4-0 start in your first sim as Bobcats GM?
GA: Thanks so much Greg, it's great to be in Charlotte and be in the league. I do have to say the original GM left the Bobcats in great shape, we have a talented roster and a good balance of young talent and experience. This team was sitting in a play-off position when I took them over, and like you said we had a good start to my tenure with a 4-0 sim week and a win over the conference leading Brooklyn Nets in Brooklyn.
GA: I know your busy. Good luck with the season, and thanks for stopping by.
The Bobcats have a tough line-up on paper with young point-guard Teron Johnson set to lead the Bobcats into the future. On the wings the Bobcats have fill-it up scorer Trae Golden and defensive small-forward Anthony Anderson. Lawrence Otis is a great prospect at power-forward as he has a balanced offensive game, an intimidating defensive game and alot of potential at the youthful age of 25. At centre the Bobcats have franchise centre Theo Pinson Jr. Theo is one of the stars of the team and his leadership and committment have led the Bobcats to a playoff position this far into the season.
David Jelinek is a great point-guard first option off the bench, David is able to find the open man and run a decent offensive system. Matt Carlino, Orlando Davis, Stedman Lowry and new addition Daryl Foster provide some decent guard options off the bench and Kevin Love, Tymon Howard and Jessaman Dunker are some quality big man options of the bench also.
The Bobcats are currently sitting at 36 - 26 on the season, their goal is to make the playoffs in their new GMs first season, and to try and make an impression after that, as anything is possible in the playoffs, if the team continues to play how it did in its first week under their new GM.
Thank you to all the GMs welcome, and the Bobcats are hoping to contend for that UOSL Championship.
