BREAKING NEWS:
Just days before the upcoming draft, the Milwaukee Bucks GM has been fired, according to league sources today. A press conference was called by owner Herb Kohl Jr. to announce the move.
First the owner spoke, "I believe that our proud franchise has forgotten our roots, this community is tired of losing, so am I. I have made this change for the express reason of turning around this franchise. There is a light at the end of the tunnel people, give it time, and I know we will be there."
It was the new GM that was called to the microphone, "Well, I wont say that this will be easy. This franchise has suffered through tough times and I think everyone here is tired. Tired of losing, tired to seeing a proud team fall into despair. I will be cleaning house, I will do everything in my power to turn this ship around"
In his first move, he has announced the firing of longtime head coach Kelvin Sampson (70) and will be hiring an up and coming coach, naming former Bucks great Michael Redd as the head coach. Redd, 46, spent three years coaching at Portland State, leading them to two NCAA berths before being named an assistant coach at Ohio State. Two years later, after a recruiting scandal forced then first year head coach Kosta Koufos to step down, Redd was named interm and later full time head coach. Redd, over the last three years leadi the Buckeyes to one elite eight berth and two final four berths. Ohio State has not named his successor. Reports indicate that assistant head coach Greg Oden is likely to be named.
With the draft upcoming, the city has finally had something to look forward to.
