Because the Bengals secondary is pretty bad, and Chad was getting good protection (at least in the first half). But we've pretty much imploded in the second half.
And these refs are fucking terrible.

Yeah Bengals pass defense is awful, in preseason Joey had like 250 passing yards and 2 tds. It was easily his best preseason game. And I thought he was the best QB ever, but now everyones doing it lol.

LOL @ the Jets almost completing 3 consecutive Hail Mary's. The first 2 were just dropped.

Run defense is atrocious. Mangini and Sutton, stop being stubborn turds and switch back to the 4-3..

WRONG!!! the secondary is very good, the issue is we get no pressure and you cant be expected to cover for 10 seconds.

Well, you guys brought the pressure in the second half. Chad has good pocket awareness, but little escapability.

the secondary can make interceptions. it doesn't mean they're good. a secondary that is too dependent on pressure disrupting the quarterback can not be considered very good.
and i'm not saying that's a terrible thing because new england themselves have won many important games with a decent secondary or worse coverage group... but let's not go overboard.

NO corner in the NFL can defend a WR all day long. the dline HAS to create pressure or a WR will get open at some point. why do you think if a QB gets a good 4-5 seconds to throw the ball he picks teams apart. that is why tom brady has been so good the past so many years, he gets all day to throw. get guys in his face quick and he has suffered. RELY on pressure, not necessarily instant, but enough so the QB cant wait for the WRs to finally get free. deltha is healthy finally and is a probowl talent corner, jonjo proved he has potential probowl talent considering he was one of the league leaders last year in passes defensed even tho he only started 1 game and was the nickel corner. leon hall is going to be good, but he is a rookie and will make rookie mistakes. he did break up that pass to coles in the endzone that would have been a TD. he has had some good and bad plays this year. we have 3 good corners and 2 of them are very young. the safety position isnt as strong, but id consider it an avg safety duo.

Why doesn't Chad go to a team with a West Coast offense, since he seems like the perfect player for that. He's accurate as hell, but he'll have no TDs.
