The longer a league goes, the more big/max contracts begin to take form. That's just standard longevity that will do that. An ideal cap situation, in my opinion, would be a $56.5 Million Soft Cap with a $95 Million Hard Cap. Even that soft cap will seem low after awhile, but if you don't want to increase much, I think this would be the best option to just keep it at. To put it in perspective, the current NBA Salary Cap is set at $55.63 Million and that's for the 2007-2008 season, whereas we are already heading into the 2013-2014 season. that is 100% not true, unless teams just start maxing everyone. the contracts will ALWAYS be balanced and salary caps NEVER need to be changed unless idiot GMs just max every player they ever had to ensure they keep them.

Just wondering, is the Hard Cap penalty limited to offseason. Or if I were to go over it during the season, I'd still need to get under in 48 hours?

Just to make sure you guys know, max contacts are based on the salary cap. So if you increase the salary cap, max contracts will increase too. That's why it's important to keep the salary cap the same every year so people will know what max contracts are.
The reason a lot of you get into trouble and I see all these player's with salaries in the mid to high $20s is you forget when resigning a player, they can make 120% of their previous salary when you max them so yo could be getting into a bidding war with yourself and that's stupid.
A way to keep salaries down is to do what the NBA did with their new collective bargaining agreement. The NBA reduced contract length form 6 and 7 years to 5 and 6 years. And reduced increases from 110%/112.5% to 108%/110%. That'd help a lot, I'm sure FBB would fix that if it wasn't so hopelessly out of date.

Now that we are less than 2 days from the first sim, it's ok to change the hard cap.
Hard cap has been set to 91million. I probably won't change it for another 5-10 sim years.
